PETER HAYS (Program Chair)

Peter is a Partner in the Houston office of King & Spalding. He is a commercial oil and gas lawyer. And he represents companies and entrepreneurs in upstream, midstream, and downstream hydrocarbons transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and project development. Pete practices both domestically and internationally, onshore and offshore.  He is board certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

JOLISA DOBBS (Moderator)

Jolisa is a Partner in the Dallas office of Thompson Knight. She is an experienced oil and gas attorney who concentrates on oil and gas acquisition and disposition transactions throughout all oil and gas plays – including the Eagle Ford, Barnett, Haynesville, and Marcellus. Jolisa’s background as an internal auditor for a major oil and gas company and as a Certified Public Accountant gives her an edge in assessing, understanding, and allocating various risks associated with transactions and oil and gas properties. In addition, she counsels clients in the areas of oil and gas secured lending, joint venture and development arrangements, and the acquisition and disposition of natural resources companies. 

 

DANIELLE MANGRUM PATTERSON

Danielle is a Partner in the Houston office of Vinson & Elkins. Danielle’s practice focuses exclusively in the energy and infrastructure industries, but across a broad spectrum of sectors, including the upstream and midstream oil and gas and renewable power sectors. In particular, she represents clients in mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, joint ventures and project development transactions. Danielle has advised all players in the energy industry, including strategic companies, institutional investors, private equity funds and other financial institutions. In 2020, Danielle was selected by Legal 500 as a Next Generation Lawyer in Energy – Renewable/Alternative Power and Energy – Transactions – Oil and Gas. Danielle was also selected to the “Texas Rising Stars List: Super Lawyers” by Thomson Reuters in 2019 and 2020.

 

PAUL PEREA

 

Paul is Managing Director and Co-Head of M&A Investment Banking at Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co., in Houston, Texas. Mr. Perea was previously a Partner at Baker Botts L.L.P., where he spent over 15 years advising clients and their Boards of Directors on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, proxy contests and capital markets transactions in the energy space. Mr. Perea holds a BA in Government with high honors from The University of Texas at Austin and a JD from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he served on the Law Review.

 

ANTHONY SPEIER

 

Anthony is a corporate partner in the Houston office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. His practice focuses on acquisitions, divestitures and formation of joint ventures involving assets across the energy value chain. Anthony has represented clients in connection with the purchase and sale of a broad range of energy assets, including metals critical to commercial battery production and the EV market, upstream and midstream oil and gas assets and companies, refineries, LNG facilities, processing and fractionation facilities and specialty chemicals businesses.
