In 1979, the Foundation established the Joe Rudd Scholarship Fund and Scholarship Program in memory of Joe Rudd, a prominent Alaska natural resources attorney. The RMMLF Scholarships Program was established in 1993, and includes the David P. Phillips Scholarship created in 2012 to honor David Phillips, who served for 42 years as the Executive Director of the Foundation.
Scholarship selections are based on the interest of candidates in natural resources law and their potential to make significant contributions to the field.
Four hundred and fifteen (415) scholarships have been awarded to date, totaling over $2 million.
