Full-Time Faculty Positions (3)
University of Wyoming College of Law

The University of Wyoming College of Law seeks to add to its traditional strengths in natural resources and energy law and invites applications for three full-time faculty positions.  All will be tenured or tenure-track positions, with duties commencing in 2009.  We welcome applications from entry-level and experienced teachers.  At least one of the positions is contemplated at a senior, endowed chair level.  The College is particularly interested in faculty members anchored in energy law and water law.  Curricular interests, however, are flexible and may include oil & gas law, mining law, energy law & policy, oil & gas contracts and financing, international petroleum transactions, taxation of natural resources, regulated industries, water law, agricultural law, natural resources (survey course), environmental law, international environmental law, toxic torts, climate change, and advanced natural resources.  Candidates must have excellent academic credentials and demonstrate the potential for outstanding teaching and scholarship (or in the case of senior-level positions, a demonstrated record of outstanding teaching and scholarship).  We encourage applications from candidates who would enhance the diversity of our faculty.

Decision Analyst
Petrobras America Inc.

 

Provide expertise, consultation, and modeling in the proper application of Decision Analysis processes to Petrobras America Inc. (PAI) in the Walker Ridge Production Asset Department in order to make sound investment decisions primarily for Major Capital Projects. Conducts formal and informal train.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Provide expertise, consultation, and facilitation in the proper application of Decision Analysis processes to study investment decisions: Facilitation of framing sessions; understanding of international fiscal terms; construction of deterministic and probabilistic computer models; consideration of a wide range of strategic alternatives; and understanding the risks and value of various decision alternatives. Conduct valued of information (perfect and imperfect) evaluations using decision trees. 2. Participate on teams (as a member, facilitator, or consultant) in the evaluation of new opportunities, exploration programs, and other projects with emphasis on Decision Analysis. 3. Conduct formal and informal training on the application of Decision Analysis and advanced training on Decision Analysis modeling to employees and others. Provide cross-pollination among the Business Units in Decision Analysis techniques and lessons learned from prior Decision Analysis studies. 4. Participate as a member on appropriate Project execution reviews. 5. Enhance technical competencies through classes, technical reading, and participation in new ventures and evaluation efforts. Develop and maintain expertise in probabilistic and deterministic economic analysis techniques, including spreadsheet modeling using Excel and Decision Analysis modeling using Supertree.

Assistant Borough Attorney
Barrow, Alaska
North Slope Borough

The North Slope Borough is seeking an experienced attorney for its Law Department in Barrow, Alaska.  Area of practice will emphasize environmental and natural resources law, Native American law, real estate law, planning and land use regulation, and other local government issues. 

The focus of this attorney’s work will be the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, (NPRA), including issues related to the mitigation of impacts of development in the NPRA, indigenous interests in management of these lands, land management to meet competing uses, and regulation of these lands by local, state and federal authorities. 

Applicants must have a minimum of two years of experience as a practicing attorney.  A strong environmental background is preferred. Applicants must either be admitted to practice in Alaska, or be eligible for admission through exam or reciprocity.  Bar admission is a condition of continuing employment. The position is paid about $107,000 and has an excellent benefit package.
